Term or phrase Punk
Status wired
Notes An activist tactic that seeks to hold companies and other powerful actors accountable by exposing their negative sustainability impacts through satire, often using online tools such as streaming video, mock Websites, and fake press releases.

The archetypical example is the 2010 Greenpeace campaign against Nestle around the company's sourcing of palm oil from sensitive rainforests, using a YouTube video and raising awareness on Nestle's Facebook page with activists posting avatars that defaced the Nestle logo, leading to threats of legal action by Nestle that backfired on the company. In the end, Nestle adopted a new palm oil sourcing policy that incorporated Free Prior Informed Consent.
